Senior Systems Engineer

In the role of Senior Systems Engineer - IaaS, you are expected not only to fulfill responsibilities and complete tasks but also to drive significant outcomes that will lead to the transformation of our current server infrastructure. You will be a key agent of change, leading the shift towards orchestrated containers to achieve more dynamic and efficient solutions. Your expertise in containerization, CI/CD (GitLab), orchestration, Linux administration, configuration management, Java applications, and SQL will be instrumental in achieving our goals. The department is playing a vital role to the company’s day-to-day operations. Therefore, the role implies continuous exposure to and collaboration with different stakeholders both within and outside of DSwiss.

Your responsibilities

• Actively contribute to project- and maintenance-related activities.
• Ensure proper know-how transfer within the department.
• Contribute towards improving the efficiency of our infrastructure and processes.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot and rectify issues.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timeline, and budget estimates.
• Deploy, update, and configure hardware, software, and network components for project initiatives and as part of regular maintenance activities.
• Create and maintain documentation related to the infrastructure.
• Educate and mentor your colleagues to help fill in knowledge gaps within your team.
• Initiate and implement measures to automate tasks and/or improve the efficiency of existing solutions/processes.
• Monitor all systems to ensure optimal uptime and troubleshoot any inefficiencies and errors promptly.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partners as part of 3^rd level support.

What are your assets

• Hands-on Debian and/or Red Hat-based Linux distribution skills.
• Solid understanding of networking and storage concepts.
• Shell know-how - you are fluent in multiple common script dialects (BASH, Python, Perl etc.)
• Solid proficiency in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenStack), with a proven track record.
• Configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible etc.) background would be considered an advantage.
• Willingness to share knowledge, open to collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• High level of autonomy and a problem-solver mentality and motivation.
• Experience with Java application servers and SQL would be considered a plus.
• Fluency in English. German language skills would be considered an advantage.
